Not just a logo
To dispel a common misconception, a logo is not the brand. Imagine being handed a fabulous looking book, opening it up and there is nothing inside - what a waste of a lovely cover design! It would be like having a logo with nothing to support it. A company brand is the message it is giving to its customers. Once the core values are established, then the brand can be built which INCLUDES the logo, strategy, people, visual presentation, tone of voice, style of photography, font usage etc etc. These need to remain consistent across all platforms used such as websites, advertising campaigns, exhibitions, premises and marketing material. We all want our logo to represent our brand instantly, and this is something that doesn’t happen overnight, so be patient, persistent and on-brand!

These are a handful from this week's work load:
Gosh Golly began in 2008 and I immediately started networking. Not only was it great for learning about business and making connections, I also gained some fabulous clients, one of which was a referral from Ali Ratchford who works for Woolley & Co, family law specialists. I'm still designing for them nearly 20 years later producing marketing literature for print/online, banners, invitations, business card magnets, the list goes on!
In 2016 I was networking again after moving, and met Paul Hickman from Webiness who built my website. I have gained some fantastic clients as a result, including the Greyhound Restaurant who found me online a few years ago, and I have been designing menus and promotional material for their many local eateries and shops ever since.
Serenity came from a different kind of networking... I starting going there for beauty treatments when I moved in 2010 and became friends with Rebecca the owner. She always uses me for anything design related such as price lists, wall art and brand creation.
I owe Quality Control Technology to my husband - good ol' word of mouth! In 2018 one of the Directors had bought a car from Andrew's business Toybox Specialist Cars, and he is always singing my praises! QCT just so happened to have been let down by their designer so I helped out, and have been their 'go to' ever since. This week I have designed and printed folders and also created some icons for some new software they are developing (which I have also been involved in the design).
So, no two weeks are ever the same for me, and I mean it when I say I really love what I do for my many wonderful customers!

An email from David Austin with this beautiful photo of a rose. That's it, yes, Pantone Colour of the Year 'Cloud Dancer' is my favourite colour. Not only are roses my favourite flower but I love this name too. But hang on, 'what is your favourite colour?' is also one of my son's favourite questions, and without thinking I answer blue, and sometimes pink, or white, or green.
Looking into it, humans have a preference to a colour because it is linked to personal experiences, positive memories and associations. What explains my multiple choices? I tend to like a colour for its simple beauty, and this can change for various reasons depending on mood, the seasons and scenarios around me. I can also have different colour preferences for fashion, home, cars etc. For the record I am currently feeling rather 'Cloud Dancy'!
So can you really have an all time favourite? Do you? Would love to know and your reasons!
